Negative Intrathorascic Pressure CPR Airway Research

Dr. Joe Holley and his co-author Dr. Johanna C. Moore joined the podcast for this episode to talk about their recently published research on the effectiveness of various supraglottic airway devices during CPR. Specifically, the study looked how well the various devices maintained an airtight seal to develop negative intrathoracic pressure when using an impedance threshold device during ventilation.

We discuss the methods and process used during the study, the specific devices reviewed, and the final results and conclusions for the various supraglottic airway devices. The two doctors also discuss the challenges bringing the findings of CPR research down to the street level and implementing change in patient care during sudden cardiac arrest.

On the show this week are co-hosts Sam Bradley, and Jamie Davis.
