In today’s episode we bring the Disaster Podcast regulars together to talk about preparing for summer disasters and heat related injury and illnesses associated with this time of year. We talked about the extreme heat affecting a large portion of the U.S. and the drought conditions in the west and southwest of the United States. With the Colorado snowpack melting sooner than usual, it doesn’t look good to improve the conditions increasing the drought.
Dr. Joe Holley talked about dealing with heat related injuries at an Air Show near Memphis recently. He discussed common issues and how to recognize Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke. The team discussed the “Orange Man” graphic used by the CDC and National Weather Service about heat illness and injury.
Join co-hosts Sam Bradley and Jamie Davis, along with disaster emergency management expert, Becky DePodwin, and meteorologists Kyle Nelson and Dan DePodwin.
