In this week’s episode we bring you a special segment recorded at the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) Preparedness Summit. While at the Summit, Disaster Podcast hosts Jamie Davis, the Podmedic and Sam Bradley got the chance to cover several important disaster response topics.
Joining Sam on the first segment were Sherwin Levinson, Executive Director, Medical Reserve Corps GEM, Armin Ansari, PhD, a health physicist, and Kevin Caspary, MPH from Oak Ridge Associated Universities. These guys and Sam talk about how communities can be better prepared for radiation disasters and how local, state and federal public health resources are deployed during a radiation event.
In the second segment, Sam chatted with TV Weather Personality and Mrs. Virginia International Cheryl Nelson about weather related preparedness. Cheryl chose this topic for her pageant platform since many people still don’t adequately prepare for impending weather events.
Again, a special thank-you to Paragon Medical Education Group for their continued support of this podcast as our partners in this endeavor to bring disaster medicine to you. Check out their page and educational resources that can help your system be more prepared for what happens in your area.
