From Responder to Patient with Codi Foxworthy

When Codi Foxworthy became an EMT and Firefighter, she never thought she would someday rely on rescuers to save her life. This week on the Disaster Podcast we talk with Codi about her accident and the spine injury that took her from first responder to patient in an instant.

Codi shares her experiences as a patient and her struggles to be seen and heard by her medical providers since the accident. As a person with a permanent injury, she has to rely on medical professionals and first responders regularly. We talk about the importance of listening to our patients and really hearing what they’re trying to tell us about their conditions and feelings. We can all do better.
