Take Aways From High Quality Disaster and EMS Training

ambulance-paramedics-transporting-victimOn this week’s episode of the Disaster Podcast, we discuss the training opportunities presented at conferences like the cadaver lab at EMS Today 2015. Disaster Podcast hosts Jamie Davis, the Podmedic and Sam Bradley are joined by Dr. Joe Holley from Paragon Medical Education Group to listen to some comments Sam recorded at EMS Today from Cadaver Lab students as they left the lab.

There is really no substitute for hands-on learning opportunities. The Cadaver Lab at EMS Today 2015 had some incredible opportunities for students to try their skills in this disaster and EMS training tool. This is made evident by the responses of the two students Sam interviewed after their experiences at the Cadaver Lab put on by the folks at Paragon. One student and relatively new paramedic talked about the affect his improved airway management skills had on his patient care in the field when he returned from a previous cadaver lab.

Another cadaver lab student was an EMS instructor who was excited to learn new tips for various patient care skills that she could take home to her students. Educators might especially like to look at the type of experiential training that folks like Joe Holley and Jim Logan bring to the table at their events like the cadaver labs at conferences.
