New Zealand Flag

New Zealand’s NIWA, the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research, is a Crown Research Institute. Its mission is to conduct leading environmental science to enable the sustainable management of natural resources for New Zealand and the planet. On the show with co-hosts Sam Bradley and Jamie Davis are Climate Scientist Nava Fedaeff and meteorologist Ben Noll. We also have our disaster weather and emergency management expert, Becky DePodwin and our disaster weather expert Kyle Nelson.

We talk about climate science and New Zealand’s approach to studying the changing climate and its impacts on this nation in the South Pacific. We also discuss weather alert systems and some of the key differences between weather alerts in the U.S. and in New Zealand.
